While I think the picture is pretty (and intriguing - is it a pointy-hatted giant made out of ladders and slides?) I can see your point. Plenty of people who aren't internet savvy will be expecting the simple white page. They may think they've stumbled onto the wrong thing. At least the results page is the same though. That would just be messy with a background.
